Abstract

The bank provides its Euro/EMU content in a series of publications titled "Practical Issues Arising from the Introduction of the Euro" (PIQ). These are quarterly series of booklets on the practical implications for the UK of the introduction of the single currency. The main focus of the publication is to help the wholesale financial sector of the economy prepare for the Euro, although the business, retail and consumer sectors are also covered. The purpose of the publication is to explain, as widely as possible, the relevant issues regarding EMU and how they are progressing, as well as identifying, and where appropriate, filling any gaps in the necessary preparation work.
